Pavel Valeryevich Durov was born on October 10, 1984, in Leningrad, now known as St. Petersburg, Russia. He comes from an academic family; his father, Valery Durov, is a Doctor of Philological Sciences, while his mother, Elena Durova, was a teacher of English.
